Musicians
If you are interested in joining Live Music Now Scotland as a musician, you can find all the details you need on our Auditions page. Applications for 2024 are now closed.
Live Music Now Scotland is actively recruiting up to 3 new trustees for its board.
Live Music Now is an international movement founded by legendary violinist, Yehudi Menuhin, in London in 1977. For over forty years, Live Music Now Scotland has trailblazed his visionary lead. It brings the life-transforming benefits and joy of live music to people in Scottish communities least able to access then, while at the same time providing unique professional development and performing opportunities to outstandingly talented early-career musicians.
We are currently welcoming applications to board membership from those interested in and committed to music for social impact coupled with early career professional development for exceptional instrumentalists and singers. While Live Music Now Scotland has always had an emphasis on inclusivity in every aspect of its work, it is currently placing a sharper focus on equality, diversity and inclusion, including in membership of its board. We particularly welcome interest from early career musicians and music leaders between the ages of 20 – 30, disabled people and people from ethnic groups other than White British.
While we would like to hear from people with a broad range of skills and expertise, we are particularly looking for those with a background in: healthcare; finance/accounting; fundraising/philanthropy; music sector in Scotland; EDI.
Board meetings take place four times per year, with most board members also serving on one of the charity’s three sub-committees. Meetings are generally in person in central Edinburgh, with option for joining digitally for those who are based out of the central belt of Scotland. There is no fee payable to board members, but travel and carer expenses are covered in line with organisational policy.
Timeline: expressions of interest by Fri 17 January 2025; deadline for applications Fri 31 January 2025. Interviews, in person/online, week of Monday 4 March 2025. Induction with Chair/CEO, March/April 2025. First board meeting as observer, May 2025. First board meeting as a charity trustee, August 2025.
