Atelier Ensemble
Atelier Ensemble is a Glasgow-based piano trio, exploring music new and old as they perform timeless classical and romantic pieces. They also uncover lesser-known music, improvise together in various styles onstage, and collaborate with emerging composers to workshop and premiere new works.
Composed of American violinist Elizabeth Gange, Slovak American cellist Rebekah Woodier, and South Korean pianist Sinae Sung, they have been playing together for over four years. Having begun at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as a piano quartet, their early highlights as a group include: premiering Scottish composer Amy Stewart’s piece ‘1.5 Degrees’ at Aberdeen’s Sound Festival in 2021, receiving highly commended at RCS’s Governor’s Recital Prize for Chamber Music (2023), and winning first place at the Dunbar-Gerber Chamber Music Competition (2023).
They have since curated programmes for settings all across Scotland, including their concert ‘Slavic Voices’ in Glasgow (2023), their performance in St. Paul’s Cathedral in Dundee (2023), their Usher Hall debut thanks to Live Music Now Scotland (2024), their performance of ‘Café Music’ in RCS’s Mondays at One series (2025), and a jazz and tango influenced programme they performed at the Burrell Collection (2025).
Having joined Live Music Now in 2024, they are passionate about performing in community settings and explore a breadth of popular and film music alongside timeless classical music. They have taken part in masterclasses with artists such as Joona Pulkkinen, Joseph Swenson, David Dolan, the Fidelio Trio, and the Brodsky Quartet. They have also received coaching from Sinae Lee, Justine Watts, Alison Wells, Greg Lawson, Andrea Gajic, and David Watkin.
