Morris McIntyre Duo
A partnership formed through a shared passion for storytelling through song, the McIntyre-Morris Duo formed whilst studying together at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. They have since performed across the country, with highlights including the Usher Hall and the National Gallery of Scotland. As Live Music Now Scotland Artists, the duo enjoy performing to a diverse range of audiences, as well as delivering workshops and outreach programmes. Their programmes focus on romantic and folk inspired music, ranging from Schubert to English folk songs. They’re also passionate about increasing the repertoire for voice and guitar with their own arrangements.
James McIntyre is a Scottish tenor from Dumbarton and a recent MMus graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he was the winner of the Elgar Spedding Lieder Competition and the Hugh S Roberton Prize for Scottish Singing, and performed roles in Opera School productions. He currently studies privately with Anthony Roden alongside maintaining an active performing career both on stage and in concerts. His strong love of chamber music has led him to explore hidden gems of the voice and guitar repertoire with Ross Morris which they proudly perform across the country as Live Music Now Scotland Artists. He is especially passionate about the performance of underappreciated music by Scottish composers and strives to include these in performances. Recently, James was a member of the Grange Park Opera Chorus and a Waterperry Opera Festival Young Artist. He also made his role debut as Eisenstein in Fife Opera’s Die Fledermaus and in 2025, looks forward to joining the Chorus of Scottish Opera for their Spring Tour of The Merry Widow and Trial by Jury.
“Ross Morris is considered one of the most exciting of the new generation of British classical guitarists” (Western Morning News, 2021) and has been described as playing with “outstanding technique and subtle nuance” (Helly’s International Guitar Festival 2022). Currently based in Scotland, Ross’s performing career has taken him to stages across the UK and North America and he has also toured with Scottish Opera (2023/24) and Glyndebourne Opera Company (2021). Alongside his work with James, Ross is also an active chamber musician as a member of Quartet Malamatina and the Morris-Begg Duo. As an educator, Ross is an associate instrumental teacher, ensemble leader and lecturer at the University of St Andrew’s and has delivered workshops at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland alongside Quartet Malamatina. He is also part of the NYOS Music Leaders Scheme. Ross studied undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Allan Neave and previously at Chetham’s School of Music.
James and Ross joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2022.
