Morris Begg Duo

Described as delivering “energetic and charming performances”, the Morris-Begg Duo of Ross Morris (guitar) and Ines Mayhew-Begg (soprano) began working together in 2019 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. They have already brought their shared enjoyment of the intimate and expressive nature of voice and guitar to several prestigious venues across the UK including Kings Place, the National Gallery of Scotland, St Giles Cathedral and the St Magnus International Festival. The duo aim to bring a freshness to their programmes through their own unique arrangements and commissions.They made their debut recording in July 2025, which will be released later this year.

Ross Morris is a classical guitarist praised for his “outstanding technique and subtle nuance”, he thrives in collaborative settings. He co founded Quartet Malamatina, known for cross genre programming, international touring across the UK and North America, notable residencies, and commissioning new works. Recently Ross has performed alongside the Resol String Quartet and toured with Scottish Opera and Glyndebourne Opera. He is co founder of the St Andrews GuitarFest, teaches at the University of St Andrews, and is part of the NYOS Music Leaders Scheme.

Ines Mayhew-Begg is a Scottish soprano with a Masters in Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Ines’ career spans the UK and Germany, currently a member of the Stadttheater Bremerhaven Opera Chorus. In 2022 she made her European debut as Adele in Lyric Opera Studio Weimar’s production of Die Fledermaus. In the summer of 2023 she toured around Scotland with Opera Bohemia as Kate in Madame Butterfly and was regarded as “both vocally and visually very persuasive” by Edinburgh Music Review.

Ines and Ross joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2022.
