No Borders Trio

No Borders Trio is a dynamic string trio committed to breaking down barriers through live music centred around the performance of classical music in diverse community settings, such as hospitals, care homes, schools and arts venues across Scotland. The trio consists of Frances Patterson (Violin), Suzanne Godet (Viola) and Joanna Stark (Cello), all recent graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with previous experience of volunteering with non-for-profit organisations such as the Nevis Ensemble and in Dementia Day Care centres. The group formed in early 2023 through their shared passion for chamber music and drive to build stronger links between music and communities.

They have been recipients of Glasgow UNESCO award scheme for their work in the dementia unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Recently the group toured to the Jura region of France and also the Seil Islands with support from Netherlorn Music Scheme. They were selected to premiere the 2024 Kimie Commission Prize ‘Dancing in Faerie’ by Connor Bristow and collaborated with the French artist Cølibri on their new album.

They joined the Live Music Now Scotland (LMNS) scheme in 2024. Joining LMNS is an excellent continuation of their journey, as it will help them grow their experience, create links with communities and provide visibility on their work as an established ensemble.

What They Play

Their core repertoire is classical music including composers such as Beethoven, Kodály, Weiner, Dohnányi, Elgar, to name a few. The trio also enjoy storytelling through classical music. Gathering three imaginative minds enabled them to write stories to tell alongside classical pieces of music, nurturing their audience’s imagination and providing an interactive way to listen to classical music. They are also actively arranging music, in order to have a lot of options to be flexible and adapt their repertoire to their audience. They look forward to their journey with LMNS and what the future holds!
