The Rosan Duo

Soprano, Tamisin Birch, and violinlist, Lisa Robertson are The Ròsan Duo. They first met during high school and have enjoyed performing together since then. They are enthusiastic about fusing their interests and exploring new repertoire.

Tamsin Birch is studying on the Masters Opera course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Wilma MacDougall. Before continuing her studies at the Conservatoire, Tamsin completed both her BMus and MA degrees at the Royal Academy of Music as a Scholar studying with Nuccia Focile and Iain Ledingham. Her opera roles include: Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro) – St Paul’s Opera, Poppea (Agrippina) – Dartington Summer Festival and Merab (Saul) – Dartington Summer festival. She has also performed a number of roles in part, these include Nedda (Pagliacci), Mimi (La Boheme), Ilia (idomeneo), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Helena (A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream) and Medea (Teseso).

Lisa Robertson is a violinist and composer. She studied Masters in violin at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and continues to study with Maya Iwabuchi. She has performed with ensembles such as Pro Youth Philharmonia, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, Kellie Consort and Nevis Ensemble. She performed her own composition at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and on BBC Radio 3. She is currently undertaking a PhD in composition at the RCS and her pieces have been performed by Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Red Note Ensemble and Hebrides Ensemble among others. She participated in masterclasses with Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Brian Ferneyhough and Sir James MacMillan.
