Twogether Duo

Twogether Duo is a chamber ensemble with a fascinating story about how music can unite people from different corners of our world. Chinese violinist Huixin Hu came to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2016. One year later Alena Bulatetskaya became an RCS accordion student, thanks to an Erasmus Exchange Programme between Russia and the UK. Together the two musicians spent three busy and enjoyable months of rehearsals, being encouraged by their teachers’ family duo Ad Libitum (Andrea and Djordje Gajic). That is how Twogether Duo came to be.

The soulful and bright violin accompanied by the soft and deep sound of the accordion is a truly unique combination. Delicate intonations of violin are close to the human voice, while the mixture of accordion timbres imitates the sound of an orchestra. This combination gives the musicians an opportunity to play almost everything, but their favourite repertoire is Bach and Piazzolla.

Twogether Duo joined Live Music Now Scotland at the beginning of 2020 and collaborated online with chamber festival Music at Paxton and its Artistic Director Angus Smith in an online live interview/performance in 2020.
