Formed by graduates from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Troppos Ensemble is a synthesis of the traditional orchestral formation. An attempt to break often rigid classical rules in the search of a new, innovative sound. With this programme we intent to create a musical journey through the fascinating cultural melting pot that is Spanish and Latin American music. Bringing to all of you the pure beauty and light of this exchange.
A common trait shared by all pieces is that they were originally designed to be danced. We found that the problem nowadays with classical music is that it is absolutely disconnected from dancing. That is why we decided to return to the sensuality of dance to this beautiful music.
Troppos has performed in many different venues and festivals such as the Govan Gala Festival, the Pianodrome as part of the Edinburgh Fringe, Gigha Music Festival, Giffnock Concert Series, as well as commissioned works by the well-known composer and film maker James Gray, based in Oban.
The Troppos Ensemble joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2024.
